Loneliness

Loneliness is a faraway place. It is a place you once visited alone on the way somewhere. You went inside the neo-classical-styled building and ate a fantastically cooked meal. Warm nan with rich chicken curry and a plate full of salad. At first, it felt like a normal meal, but you savoured every bite. Life will never be the same again; you have tasted loneliness.

Life passes through different phases: long summers, short rains and dark winters; you share your life and meals with people: parents, partners, friends, and children. But that faint memory of loneliness stays, like that meal you had on a lost highway in that neo-classical building. You don’t remember where it was that, what time of life you savoured that loneliness, but you did, and never in life any meal would be the same. You live your adulthood chasing that meal, to never find. You will have great meals, travel to faraway countries and meet amazing people, but loneliness, like that meal, will be a part of your life forever.
